Silver Side Productions was honored to have Jim Ward play an acoustic set on the back deck of the offices this past August to showcase his first solo album, entitled “Quiet In The Valley, On The Shores the End Begins”.

The album, self released on Tembloroso Recordings out of El Paso, TX, features a track with Tegan Quin (of Tegan & Sara) called “Broken Songs”. After the set SSP had the opportunity to catch up with Jim and discuss his storied past with the post-hardcore band, At The Drive-In, and what the future has to hold.

Born in El Paso,Texas, Jim Ward co-founded At The Drive-In when he was 17 years old. At The Drive-In began their career playing small venues throughout the southwest, gaining attention and fans through word of mouth and heavy touring schedules. The band played with the likes of Rage Against The Machine and The Get Up Kids.

Breaking up during constant touring to support their highly influential 2008 album “Relationships of Command”, members Cedric Bixler-Zavala and Omar Rodriguez-Lopez went on to start the band The Mars Volta while Jim began Sparta and Sleepercar.

Sparta have released three records and toured the world, and Sleepercar, an alt-country project, released an album entitled “West Texas” in 2008 and opened up for Coldplay on tour. In addition to his work as a recording artist, Jim is running his record label collective, Tembloroso, and giving back to the El Paso music scene by managing a music theater to bring in touring bands to the city.
